I was wondering if there's anyone here who shops online. It doesn't have to be from a major vendor. It could be something as simple as you make deals on a swap mailing list or the like.

For the record, I've made at least 5 - 6 transactions with various individuals via email, so I count myself as a yes.

Yes, but only for stuff that is difficult or inconvenient to get or pay for otherwise. So not for my daily provisions, most gardening materials or stuff for home improvement.

Browsing a web site is no substitute for wandering around a shop, disturbing the merchandise, examining the packets, sniffing their aromas, reading the lists of ingredients and finding a new product in the process. Cool On the other hand, comparing web sites can be useful to check prices even if you intend to make a shop purchase.

I try to be selective about sites I use or use PayPal to limit consequences if I am not sure.

No, I shouldn't think so! I just buy old computer stuff for my collection.

Depends on how much cheaper the thing is vs. a standard brick in mortar store. I probably would only shop online by using those Visa gift cards since they're not really attached to anything important.

I'm a bit more adventurous than that. For example my last few trips to America and South Africa were planned on line. Air-line tickets, hotels in strange places and hire cars for example. No practical alternative and it always worked out. I've been buying electronic components online for a long time as most suppliers I can deal with only do mail-order.

But all the big supermarkets offer online shopping and home delivery now.
Not at all the same experience for me, but if my back gets worse I might be tempted.
