Our goal in the Mac GUI
Community is to allow as many people access to our service
as possible, and to promote communication between diverse
groups of people. We want you to have fun in a place
that is comfortable and safe.
To meet our goal we have a few general
ground rules. These rules were made to ensure that your
experience at Mac GUI is a positive one, and that you'll
keep coming back. Remember these rules when you are
choosing a Member Name, posting public messages, sending
eMail or Private Messages, or adding any other type
of content to Mac GUI.
Rule #1. Everyone in Mac GUI is protected from harassment.
In Mac GUI, we welcome people of all ages, races, religions,
genders, national origins, sexual orientations and points
of view. We don't tolerate expressions of bigotry, hatred,
harassment or abuse toward or between our members or
staff. Nor will we tolerate threats of harm to anyone.
We want to encourage discussion and exchange of ideas,
not alienate people, so we don't want any defamatory,
abusive, tasteless, or indecorous statements. For the
same reason, we don't allow sexually explicit material
in conversations, member names, or any other public
areas of Mac GUI.
Rule #2. We only allow legal activities in Mac GUI
This almost seems to obvious to mention,
but we don't allow any illegal activities. Specifically,
we won't let you use Mac GUI to advocate illegal or
fraudulent schemes. You can't use Mac GUI to distribute
unauthorized copies of copyrighted material, including
photographs, artwork, text, recordings, designs, or
computer programs. The Mac GUI Member Name you choose
cannot be a name someone (excluding yourself) has protected
by trademark or copyright law. Even though it's not
exactly illegal, we won't allow you to impersonate someone
else.
Rule #3. We want to have a safe environment,
and discourage disruptive communication.
For your protection, computer programs
that contain destructive features, such as viruses,
worms, Trojan Horses, etc., are not permitted anywhere
in Mac GUI.
We want to discourage anything that disrupts
communication. Besides the kinds of disallowed material
mentioned above, disruptions can include persistent
off-topic comments, statements that incite others to
violate the Mac GUI Standards included in the service
agreement, or the act of "scrolling" or "page
stretching" - pressing Return multiple times or
making the pages unnecessarily wider than usual.
Nobody likes to sift through junk or "spam"
eMail, so we are prohibiting that, too. Examples of
junk mail include chain-emails, pyramid schemes, merchandise
or other offerings, and other useless garbage. Advertising
and soliciting are allowed only in designated areas
of Mac GUI.
Rule #4. Everyone here has the responsibility
of upholding these Mac GUI Rules
We encourage your participation in upholding
Mac GUI Rules and Standards. Every member adds to the
diversity and interest of Mac GUI and we want your visits
here to be an experience you enjoy. If you have a question
about the Mac GUI Standards or wish to report a violation,
send an email or private message to an Administrator
or Moderator.
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend
the account of any member if we determine that member's
non-compliance with the rules and standards was intentional
and is likely to cause serious commercial or other harm
to Mac GUI or another member.
Just a reminder...
When in doubt about appropriate behavior
in Mac GUI, remember that Mac GUI is an electronic world,
but the people here are real. So, just as when you join
any gathering of people, we ask that you treat others
with respect and care.
Thanks for joining the Mac GUI community!
You're making our world a more interesting place to
be! :-)
